The Mediterranean climate of Castuera, characterized by mild winters, rainy autumns and springs and hot and dry summers, is ideal for the growing of olive trees.
The growth of the olive tree is slow. It usually bears fruit 5-10 years after it is planted and does not fully develop until 20 years have gone by. From 35 to 100-150 years old it goes through its period of maturity and full production. It later ages and its yields become uneven.
Rey Alimentación has its own olive groves but also uses the trees of farmers in the area with whom we have had a close relationship since the origins of the mill. The production process is controlled from beginning to end.
The olive varieties which are grown are the picual and the cornezuelo. The cornezuelo variety gives the aromatic fruity flavour and the picual provides stability.
Rey Alimentación markets its oil under the Sierra Serena brand name, although we also package oils for the private labels of clients, adapting the labelling and even the types of packages to their needs. We currently produce more than 15 brands for major distribution companies with a clear commitment to the quality and origin of our products.
